Ministries We Support

We work closely with several organizations locally and around the world to answer God’s call to serve the world.

You can give to these benevolences through your regular giving by marking it on your envelope or by giving online to make a one-time gift. Click the “Give to Benevolences” button below.

The button on this page is specifically marked to go into our Benevolence fund, which gets divided equally between these organizations. If you would like to give directly to St. Philip Lutheran's general fund, please give here or click the button at the top of the page.

Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach

Helping Hand is a short-term crisis and referral agency which seeks to address the needs of our community not met by other existing institutions. Our mission is to assist individuals and families with immediate, short-term needs such as food, rent, utilities, and other specialized services, which if not met, would threaten an individual’s or family’s stability.

We generally donate food to Helping Hand, and May is a month where we make that a focus. But at this point in time, monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. Their funding is really taking a hit with everything being postponed. They will definitely need money to assist with rent and utilities. They started taking a few calls concerning rent and utilities to see if they could help over the phone

Help4Kids

Research shows that hungry children have poorer mental and overall health, miss more days of school, suffer greater rates of behavioral disorders and are less prepared to learn when they are in school. With goals of helping to eliminate these life-changing effects of the children in Horry County, Backpack Buddies supplies participating schools with nutritious, child-friendly, self-serve food designed to put in a backpack and feed a child over the weekend.

Horry County Schools has suspended providing and delivering meals during the week because many of their employees were becoming sick with COVID-19. Now a lot of kids won’t have anything to eat. Help4Kids is accepting food and monetary donations. They can make a dollar stretch farther than we can by buying food in bulk.

Meals on Wheels of Horry County glorifies Jesus Christ by providing home-delivered meals and fellowship to the homebound, elderly, and frail of Horry County. They deliver Monday through Friday during the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

One of their greatest needs is for people willing to donate their time to help others. Also, Meals on Wheels is privately funded. They see this as God's ministry, and as such, survive solely on donations.
