Found Both
Carole is a life-long Lutheran - baptized, confirmed, and married all in the same church. So, from an early age, church was a place where Carole learned the importance of being part of a community and serving others. As a teenager, she attended a National Lutheran Youth Gathering, an experience that helped deepen that connection and showed her even more ways faith could be lived out.
Serving others has been part of Carole’s life ever since. She has taught, served on church councils, worked with youth, helped with community meals, and participated in a variety of church and community organizations. Wherever she has lived, Carole has wanted to do both: belong to a welcoming community and serve alongside others.
When it came time to relocate, Carole and her husband considered the cities where their two daughters lived, including Myrtle Beach. Their home sold in one day, so off to Myrtle Beach they went, where they have now lived for three years.
Attending an ELCA Lutheran church was a top priority for Carole, but she was also searching for a congregation where she could continue her service to others. At St. Philip, she found both.
Carole is thankful for the feeling of community at St. Philip and is happy that she has been so welcomed by the congregation. She serves as an Assisting Minister, Lector, and Communion Assistant, while also helping with ministry and outreach by pitching in wherever she is needed. At St. Philip, Carole has found a place to use her gifts.
She was also impressed during the renovation by the way the congregation came together. For Carole, it was another example of what makes St. Philip special: people here are willing to come together and do what is needed to make the church a place where others can experience God's love.
Thank you, St. Philip, for being a congregation that creates opportunities for people to serve, welcomes people into the life of the church, and makes everyone aware of the love of Christ.
