Guided

Marianne Tetreault’s journey with God has carried her across countries and through many chapters of life. Born in Germany, raised in France, and later building a forty-year career as a cosmetologist in New York, she has always known one constant truth: wherever she was, God was with her. That faith took root early — caring for her beloved grandmother, keeping her Bible and hymnal close by, and trusting that Jesus would guide her wherever she went.

For many years, she found that steady presence at St. Paul’s Lutheran on Long Island, where she worshiped faithfully, served regularly, and was surrounded by dear friends who strengthened her walk with Christ.

When Marianne and her daughter, Karen, moved to Myrtle Beach in 2019, she began searching for a new church home that felt like the one she had loved in New York. She trusted that God would guide her, but Sunday after Sunday, the warmth and familiarity she remembered felt distant. Still, she kept searching, believing there was a place waiting for her.

When she visited St. Philip, something felt different. The people were friendly, the worship was uplifting, and the sanctuary itself reminded her of familiar memories of faith. Not long after, Pastor Jason visited her at home — a small gesture that made a lasting impression. She knew she had found the place where God was leading her next.

Today, Marianne finds great joy serving at St. Philip. She’s part of the Fellowship Committee and the team that prepares meals for the hungry, and she tends the church grounds as one of its faithful weed-pullers. Surrounded by friends and rooted in faith, Marianne feels deeply at home here. Through every season and every move, she continues to see the same gracious truth: God has been guiding her all along — and God’s presence is especially clear in this community of love and welcome.

Thank you for making our church warm and inviting for Marianne and for others who are searching.
